First Korean trainee arrives in the Orana region

Regional Development Australia (RDA) Orana is celebrating the arrival of their first participant in the Korean Trainee Project. Mr Sangyool Yoon, a Korean citizen, has commenced training and work at the Dubbo RSL Club this week.

“The Korean Trainee Project places partially skilled trainees in Australian workplaces so that they may continue their occupational training,” said Felicity Taylor-Edwards, CEO of RDA Orana.

“The project has several outcomes, including creating a more diverse Orana region, supporting economic development in the region and realising the goals of the Korea Australia Free Trade Agreement. Trainees will spend at least 1-2 years here in the Orana, and we hope that most will choose to stay in the region after this time.”

“We are extremely excited to welcome Sangyool and his wife to the Orana and we are sure that they will both enjoy their time here.”

“It is rewarding to have reached the first major milestone in our Korean Trainee Project, and we would like to thank the Dubbo RSL Club for their support. The RSL has also participated in our Work Inspiration project, which is another RDA initiative designed to increase the skills of our existing regional workforce,” said Felicity.
