Key regional development meetings to be held

Two premier conferences about economic development and prosperity will be held in regional Australia later this year. Minister for Regional Development Fiona Nash has this week announced that the 2016 Regional Development Australia (RDA) National Forum will be held in Albany to coincide with the Sustainable Economic Growth for Regional Australia (SEGRA).

“These two events will provide a good opportunity for RDA Orana to explore and discuss key regional development issues affecting our region. Having the events coincide will allow our organisation to highlight issues integral to the growth of the Orana region,” said John Walkom, Chair of RDA Orana.

“Last week I attended a Commonwealth Reference Group meeting in Canberra. During the meeting, Minister Nash spoke about the current opportunities for regional development in regional Australia and the role that RDA organisations can play in facilitating discussion between Government and business and business to business; as well as the opportunities to foster and promote regional development in their regions,”

“Our CEO and I both look forward to using these two events as an opportunity to share skills and experience with other regional development leaders to drive regional economic development,” said Mr Walkom.

“Our regions are integral to the prosperity of the Australian economy. It is essential that we assist regions to realise their full potential in a range of industries,” said Minister Nash.

The RDA National Forum will be held on 25 October, followed by the SEGRA conference 26-28 October. For more information visit or
