National Stronger Regions Fund to drive priority infrastructure

This Wednesday, an interested group of regional stakeholders gathered to learn about Round 3 of the National Stronger Regions Fund (NSRF). The fund will provide grants of between $20,000 and $10 million for priority infrastructure projects in regional communities.

“RDA Orana was very pleased to see a number of stakeholders attending the NSRF information session on Wednesday. In fact, all the allocated places in the session were booked which indicates that there are a vast number of infrastructure projects being planned across the region,” said Felicity Taylor-Edwards, CEO of RDA Orana.

The Orana region was very successful in Round 2 with a number of new projects receiving funding. Funding was announced for the Three Rivers Regional Retirement Community in Dunedoo ($2.45 million), the Bourke Small Stock Abattoir development ($10 million) and the Bogan Shire Medical Centre at Nyngan ($611,000). In Round 1 Dubbo City Council received over $3 million to upgrade the Regional Livestock Markets.

Following this exciting news, RDA Orana is encouraging local government agencies and not-for-profits to apply for the NSRF.

“The National Stronger Regions Fund is an excellent mechanism to get the infrastructure we need in the region, and support the creation of jobs in the process.” said Ms Taylor-Edwards.

“Each project needs to demonstrate clear economic returns and job creation after the initial build period. We were very proud to support a number of successful projects in Round 2 and look forward to seeing the region get further recognition in Round 3, which is now open.”

As with previous rounds, applicants are encouraged to contact RDA Orana for assistance.

“We hope to hear from people developing projects over the coming weeks. We can guide you to the appropriate resources for your application and, if you have all the mandatory documents, we can review your application and provide support letters,” said Ms Taylor-Edwards.

“We can also provide you with economic data through REMPLAN, a software program which provides economic data modelling to support your application. This can add value to your application by providing demonstrated figures from a reputable source.”

Round 3 of the National Stronger Regions Fund closes on 15 March 2016.
