RDA Orana reflect on 12 months of achievements

Regional Development Australia Orana Chair, John Walkom, has been taking some time to reflect in the lead up to their second annual Orana Outlook Dinner on Thursday night.

“I feel that the organisation, and the region, has gone from strength to strength over the past 12 months. I’m very much looking forward to sharing our achievements with the region on Thursday evening.”

“The past year has really seen us elevate our strategic thinking, and forge greater partnerships both inside and outside our region. This has been the inspiration for the dinners theme, ‘think global, act regional’. The economic networks that make our region great do not end at the boundaries of our 13 LGAs, nor do they stop at our national borders.”

“As business leaders we need to carefully asses the global opportunity; and the opportunities are great.”

Joining Mr Walkom to celebrate the economic success of the region will be the Hon. Troy Grant MP, and Mark Coulton MP on behalf of the Deputy Prime Minister Warren Truss. But the dinner won’t only have local voices.

“I’m really looking forward to hearing our keynote speakers, Nicki Hutley and Dr Paul Collits as well as our MC, Catherine Fox” said Mr Walkom. “Nicki will be speaking on global economic trends, while Dr Collits will share his thoughts on the myths of regional development. Last year’s speakers shook up our thinking a bit and I’m sure this year will be no exception.”

“I would encourage anyone who would like to attend to contact the RDA office. I can’t wait to see the region’s business community come together once again.”
