RDA Orana welcomes Dubbo CBD developments

This week’s announcements by two local developers of their intent to develop mixed use properties within the Dubbo CBD provides a further example of the region’s transformation and growth, RDA Orana Executive Officer Megan Dixon said.

“Both developments will provide opportunity for new retail offerings, additional jobs and yet another attraction for visitors and locals to the area.”

Mrs Dixon said investment by both companies in Dubbo is already contributing to increased activity in the city centre and more job opportunities, particularly for young people in the region.

“The investment by both companies in the Dubbo CBD reflects their confidence in the continued growth and development of the region,” Mrs Dixon said.

Retail represents the third largest employment sector in the Orana, contributing more than $609M to the regional economy each year. The sector provides employment for 11% of the region’s working population.

“It is important that Dubbo provides more premium experiences and offerings within the region to attract and retain consumers,’ Mrs Dixon said.

Shopping is an important component of the tourist experience and with the tourism sector growing, enhancement of the CBD with these additions will be extremely timely.”

Both developments are expected to support existing retailers in the Dubbo CBD, with an increased number of shoppers visiting the city’s heart.

“Mixed use development is an important and welcome way of injecting more life and activity into the city,” Mrs Dixon said.

“Congratulations to the Maas Group Family Properties and Kim and Ros Williams. Their vision for the Dubbo CBD will continue the transformation of the region once implemented.”/ENDS
