Recruitment and retention in tight times

The format of RDA Orana’s upcoming Orana@Work Employer Summit will be interactive, with the launch of the skills report and presentations to be interspersed with workshop items and feedback sessions.

With the theme, Recruitment and Retention in Tight Times, topics on the day will include demand for labour, use of apprentices and trainees, strategies for recruitment and retention and building the workforce of the future.

“Participants will get advice on how to minimise and avoid risk, and learn how to implement strategic, practical solutions that will enhance the workplace and strengthen their workforce,” RDA Orana executive officer Megan Dixon said.

“There will also be a feedback session encouraging input from businesses so that we can be more specialised in targeting and delivering what they need.”

Among the items, there will be information on recruitment marketing, development of the employer brand and training tools which can be used to attract and maintain a strong and functional workplace.

“The aim is to improve recruitment practices and to address the critical gap between employers and employees.

“With more than $6 billion or projects for the region, the demand for skills and labour is significant,” Mrs Dixon said.

The keynote address will be given by author and demographer Bernard Salt, who will discuss ‘Building and Connecting Stronger Regions’ and ‘Managing Generational Change.’

Recruitment guru Greg Savage will also discuss recruitment strategy and innovation.

The summit will bring together employers, HR staff, business chamber representatives, LGAs, small business and government departments.

The Orana@Work Summit will be held at Dubbo RSL Club from 8.30am to 4.30pm on May 22. Tickets to the forum start at $110 per person and can be booked online at https://rdaorana.worldsecuresystems.com/orana-work-employer-summit
