Region’s key opportunities examined in new publication

Regional Development Australia Orana (RDAO) is extending the reach of their usual Opportunities Update via a new publication on the region.

The 2015 Orana Oulook report, supported by both Deputy Prime Minister the Hon. Warren Truss MP and Deputy Premier the Hon. Troy Grant MP, describes the region’s key economic opportunities and strengths.

“This book really shows our industries and opportunities in their best light, which helps to promote a positive business environment throughout the region” said CEO, Felicity Taylor Edwards.

“The key opportunities in agribusiness, value-added manufacturing, transport, storage and wholesaling, tourism and health and education are examined in great detail in the book. It’s great to understand the state of these industries now, so that we can identify gaps where businesses might choose to diversify, or entrepreneurs might step in to fill the need.”

“For example, the region is traversed by many highways and railways, with air connections that rival regional competitors. We always speak of our great transport connectivity, but people are often surprised to hear that huge amounts of transport, wholesaling and warehousing services – approximately $200 million worth annually – are being imported from other regions. This industry offers huge opportunities to new or expanding businesses.”

“By giving people - especially those looking to start or invest in businesses - their own little piece of the Orana to hold, we hope they come back and contribute to our robust economy.”

The publication was, of course, a team effort.

“We would also like to thank our sponsors who made this possible, Bob Berry Real Estate, Dubbo Weekender, MAAS Group, Dubbo City Council, Earth Plant Hire, Totally Work Wear, Transforce, TAFE Western, Taronga Western Plains Zoo, Rhino Promotions, Rosevar Strategy and Communication, Maverick Biosciences, Green Distillation Technologies Corp, Crowe Horwath, Big Blue Digital, Fleet Vehicle Specialists, 123 Tix and the NSW Business Chamber.”
