Trade show in Japan to blossom for Aussie exporters

Flower growers from the Orana region can learn more about export opportunities at an upcoming international trade show in Japan.

Described as the largest of its kind for flowers and plants throughout Asia, the IFEX event is held annually in the city of Chiba, and is now in its 15th year.

RDA Orana Director of Regional Development Megan Dixon said businesses who want to go will receive government assistance to aid their trip.

“Austrade will provide support to the selected Australian businesses exhibiting at the show and share the costs across all participants,” Mrs Dixon explained.

The organiser is also planning to provide a free trade space to the embassies of countries which are key flower and plant exporters to help promote the event.

“This will make it more economical for flower growers to participate,” Mrs Dixon explained, adding that the event offered a lot to potential participants.

“IFEX will have exhibitors and buyers from many other countries. It will also be a good opportunity to see what’s offered locally and to see products from other countries.”

The show is for plants and related products and services as well as cut flowers and will be held from October 10-12 at the Makuhari Messe.

There is currently strong market interest in the native and unique plants of Australia.
