SUCCESS STORY:
Business: The Tronic Group, Cobar

The Tronic Group provides onsite IT support and design services in western NSW, supporting the mining industry and small businesses in Cobar and the surrounding area.

Since 2014, Tronic has grown from a small home-based business to a regional service provider working for clients with up to 350 employees.

Business owner Tom Shanahan is from Cobar and seized the opportunity to establish an IT business in his local community.

“Cobar has a strong economy built on its role as a national hub for mining services,” he said. “This thriving market has and continues to present excellent opportunities for small niche businesses with passion.”

As well as onsite IT support and design solutions, Tronic Group also supplies high quality computer equipment to suit a variety of different business situations.

“We work closely with our clients to understand their requirements and identify ways to enhance their operations. Then we implement tailored IT products and solutions, including on-the-job training and support, to meet their individual needs.”

There are just two staff members in the Tronic team but they are committed to helping clients get the most value for their investment in technology.

“We work with companies and small businesses. We like partnering with our clients to understand their needs and implement new and innovative solutions.”

The Tronic Group proudly supports the Cobar community, using local suppliers where possible and Australian-based providers for other products.

“We’re proud to be part of the Cobar community and sponsor local community groups and events including the Cobar Races and the Cobar Roosters junior team.”

One of the barriers encountered by this company is a lack of training and development opportunities available in a rural community.

However, they are looking at expansion further into the Orana region in central and north western NSW.

“We hope to continue to grow the business locally and expand our services into the Orana region through employing more staff to provide a higher level of support and knowledge.”
