Director of Regional Development appointed


Megan Dixon has been appointed as RDA Orana’s new Director of Regional Development, with the role replacing the previous position of Executive Officer.

RDA Orana’s chair Mr John Walkom said the role is responsible for developing and implementing high quality business strategies and running the day
to day operations of the organisation.

“This position is required to oversee all operations and business activities to ensure they produce the desired results and are consistent with the
overall strategy and mission of the organisation,” he said.

In announcing Mrs Dixon as the successful applicant, Mr Walkom praised her aptitude for the role.

“There is no doubt that Megan is the best person for the job. She has a sound business background, an excellent understanding of the region and the
passion to really make a difference in this area.”

“In experience, qualifications and dedication, Megan’s suitability is second to none.”

Mrs Dixon has more than 20 years' experience in regional development including local government, strategic planning, major project development, facilitation,
community economic and events development, funding strategies and business development.

Her broad career has included involvement in a large number of industries such as mining, manufacturing, aviation, agriculture, tourism, retail, property
development, construction and the public sector.

In commencing the role, she is looking forward to connecting stakeholders, facilitating opportunities

and driving and delivering commercial and strategic priorities in the region.

“I am thrilled with this appointment and will remain focused on increasing investment and job creation, reducing reliance on government funding and
driving future priorities to ensure the Orana is a thriving economic powerhouse with national networking capabilities and global links,” she said.

Mrs Dixon’s professional qualifications are an Executive MBA from the University of Technology Sydney, a Bachelor of Commerce degree majoring in Agriculture
Economics and Economic Analysis and Policy from the University of New England, and an Associate Diploma in Applied Science from the University
of Queensland./ENDS
