Regional Development Australia Orana helps businesses large and small succeed in the Orana region. Led by business and community representatives, RDA Orana is strongly focused on diversifying the economic base of the region, workforce planning and development, business investment, infrastructure, and whole of government planning.
We recruit new businesses to the region, support the growth of existing Orana businesses, help manufacturers sell into international markets, provide start-up assistance to entrepreneurs and market the Orana as a premier travel destination. We also undertake extensive industry and market research to provide regional intelligence on critical regional development issues and find solutions to improve the Orana region for the future.
Designated Area Migration Agreement (DAMA)
As an organisation at the forefront of skilled migration, RDA Orana has submitted a Designated Area Migration Agreement (DAMA) business case to the Commonwealth Government. As the first of its kind in NSW to streamline the visa application process, the DAMA is set to make it easier for migrant employees and employers to fill vacant positions.
DAMAs are custom-designed arrangements which support a tailored, regional response to labour needs. They are an important tool in assisting regions to manage workforce strategies that support local growth. The over-arching nature of these agreements allows employers targeted and streamlined access to a broader range of overseas workers than allowed under standard State and National skilled migration programmes. The DAMA will negotiate terms and conditions, cutting down on individual employer visa worker hiring costs.
RDA Orana is currently in negotiations with the Commonwealth Government. Updates will be provided on our website.
Orana Opportunity Network (o2 Network)
In 2019 the Orana Opportunity Network will be established to support regional businesses to develop and grow, with the aim of becoming a leading industry network for businesses located in the Orana region. The O2 Network is expected to provide broad economic benefits to the Orana region that are ongoing and provide benefit to a wide range of business types and sizes. The network will work along- side major business and provide advocacy on regional issues including our current critical workforce shortage. It is envisaged that the network will become a cohesive alliance and through this provide a strong voice for the Orana region.
On the 31st of January 2019, RDA Orana hosted the Inaugural Inland Growth Summit. The aim was to spotlight the real need for regional policy and plan to support growth centres within Inland Australia, the desperate need for population growth to service projects and support sustainable and ongoing economic growth.
