The Warren region is within easy reach of Dubbo and takes in the township of Warren and villages of Collie and Nevertire.  The population is approximately 2,900 people and covers an area of approximately 10,763 square km.

The Warren Shire is located 540km north-west of Sydney and 120km from Dubbo. Collie is located approximately 50km from Warren on the Oxley Highway and Nevertire is located 19km from Warren on the Oxley and Mitchell Highways.

 

Transport

Drive: Warren is 6.25 hours from Sydney via Mudgee, 6 hours from Newcastle via Denman, 6.5 hours from Wollongong via Penrith and 1.25 hours from Dubbo.

Fly and drive: QantasLink and Regional Express fly to and from Dubbo over 100 times a week. Warren is a one hour drive from the Dubbo airport.

Rail and coach: CountryLink provides a train service between Sydney and Dubbo with a connecting bus service between Dubbo, Nevertire and Warren.

The Warren region has a highly productive and diverse agricultural industry, excelling in the production of sheep, wool, cattle, grain and cotton. Agriculture is the largest employment sector followed by public administration and safety, retail tradehealth care and social assistance and education and training.

Generally the summers are hot and the winters mild and sunny.  Hot days are experienced during the summer however humidity is usually low and the evenings are mostly pleasant by comparison.  Winters are cool to mild with cold nights and sunny days.

The Warren region is a perfect base for family or business; an ideal location to live, work and to raise a family in close proximity to the nearby regional centre of Dubbo.

Education

Warren offers its community a good range of quality educational facilities. Our youngest children are well catered for by Little Possums Child Care and Early Learning Centre, Macquarie Valley Family Day Care and Warren Preschool Kindergarten.

As our children move on to primary school education, Warren offers the choices of Warren Central School and St Mary’s Primary School. The Warren Central School also offers a comprehensive high school curriculum to cater for students through to the completion of Year 12.

Post-secondary education and vocational training is available locally through TAFE Western Warren College and various other facilities are easily accessible in the nearby regional centre of Dubbo.

 

Services

The residents of Warren are well provided for with a large range of health and community services including a hospital, medical centre, baby health services, dental clinic, pharmacy and aged care facilities. Some specialised health services are available on an outreach basis in Warren and further services are also available in the nearby regional centre of Dubbo.
