Western NSW Back in the Air

The towns of Walgett, Bourke, Cobar and Lightning Ridge will be back on the flight path next month for the first time in 12 years.

The State Government and Far North West Joint Organisation (JO) have struck a deal that will see commercial air services linking Bourke, Cobar, Walgett and Lightning Ridge to Dubbo and Cobar to Sydney.

"These new airlinks will undoubtedly boost business investment and make doing business easier for these communities, which is key to creating growth and prosperity in the region," John Walkom RDA Orana Chairman.

FlyPelican will operate from its fleet of 32 aircraft, seating up to 19 passengers and two pilots for round trips between Cobar/ Dubbo on Monday and Thursday and Cobar/ Sydney on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.

Air Link services will fly seven-passenger seat Chieftain aircraft on round trips to Dubbo/ Bourke on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, Dubbo/ Walgett on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and Walgett/ Lightning Ridge on Tuesday to Thursday.

The NSW Government provided $8 million to ensure routes remain sustainable and affordable for locals, businesses and tourists.
