EXCITING TIMES AHEAD FOR REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT AUSTRALIA ORANA

18 January 2019

Regional Development Australia (RDA) Orana Director Megan Dixon is looking forward to the exciting times ahead in 2019.

Mrs Dixon said "with the release of our first quarter report this week, it is time to reflect on the great accomplishments RDA Orana made in 2018, and look towards the fantastic events, initiatives and partnerships that we are developing for 2019."

"RDA Orana has an outstanding list of achievements for 2018 including 10 grant applications submitted to the State and Federal Governments between October and December, for a range of projects throughout the Orana region,"

"RDA Orana has also been working on the issue of workforce for our region, welcoming the change to make a submission to the Commonwealth Government in December 2018 in response to the Senate Inquiry into the effectiveness of the current temporary skilled visa system in targeting genuine skills shortage,"

"In 2019 our purchase will be to continue to support the development of the Orana Region by facilitating industry collaboration, encouraging public and private investment and supporting cooperation between all stakeholders."

"In the coming months we are putting together a range of fantastic events and initiatives promoting population growth, industry capability, export development and investment in the region," Mrs Dixon said.

"The Inland Growth Summit will be the first event on the 31st of January aiming to spotlight the real need for a regional policy and plan to support growth centres within Inland Australia,"

"Keynote speakers will include Dr Tom Measham of the CSIRO, Ms Fiona Nash Strategic Advisor for Regional Development at Charles Sturt University and Roger Fletcher of Fletcher International Exports just to name a few," Mrs Dixon said.
